An Elegy of the Soul – NaPoWriMo 3

napo2017button1Day 3 of NaPoWriMo. The prompt for today is to write an elegy – a poem that mourns or honors someone dead or something gone by. And I’d like to ask you to center the elegy on an unusual fact about the person or thing being mourned.

An endless road ahead,
How can I move forward?
My soul is clenched behind,
How can I set me free?
This head beneath the sun
This heart that belongs with the stars
What drug shall I drink to be me?
Dreams few, Reality scaring!
He asked, “You are nuts?”
ME, I’m bonkers, Lost my soul in the deal.”
Put an anchor I plead. I didn’t,
Didn’t know the game. Let me be green.
The song of the spring,
The dance of the daffodils,
Cherry blossoms, Lovers kiss,
Whatnots have I missed!
Oh Lucifer, Remind my God,
His child mourns,
For she misses her soul.
For there she lies. Cold.
